Coming to Wakefield and other stories: a book
3 November 2017
We are pleased to announce that all copies have been sold! Thank you to our dedicated group of volunteers!
In January 2012, a group of a dozen or so Wakefielders signed up for a two-day writing workshop. Norma Geggie enjoyed the experience so much that a month later she organized a writing group in her own home. Over the next five years, Norma, Joan Garnett, Mary Lou van Schaik, Jo Leath and John Hardie met more than 50 times to share their work on the basis of previously agreed topics. Last year the group decided to put 25 of the 250 or so pieces in a publication:
“Coming to Wakefield and other stories”
Proceeds from the sale of the book would be donated to the palliative care project “La Maison des Collines.” Just before the book launch, an anonymous donor offered to pay the full cost of printing and publishing. This means that 100% of the $20 cost of each book is given to the MDC.
