Nurses needed to provide critical palliative care in the Outaouais – La Maison des Collines launches recruitment campaign to optimize nursing staff
La Pêche, June 16, 2021 – La Maison des Collines is undertaking a recruitment drive in its bid to find nurses to provide the critical end-of-life palliative care families in the Outaouais rely on. The need for front-line health professionals is especially acute for the night shift at the 6-bed care home in La Pêche.
The recruitment drive comes as La Maison des Collines is forced to temporarily suspend admissions as of June 20, 2021 while it continues to search to fill the positions that are essential to the quality care it offers.
“There is an extreme shortage of nurses across the province, but even more so in the Outaouais,” explains Dr. David Ian Gold, Medical Coordinator of La Maison des Collines. “We strongly believe that La Maison des Collines offers a unique opportunity for nurses to provide the global kind of care they aspire to.”
“There are many reasons why we believe that nurses would want to consider joining the La Maison des Collines team,” says Executive Director Julie Filion. “Our approach to care focuses on a dynamic team approach with the input of each member of the care team highly valued. The recruitment campaign will include outreach to media outlets and a social media campaign named #WhyMDC, featuring members of La Maison des Collines’ team, volunteers and board of directors sharing their own stories of the palliative care home’s impact. The campaign will also include a video that showcases the palliative care home’s work environment.
“We are taking a fresh approach to our recruitment campaign. It is unlike anything we’ve done before,” says Julie Filion, “and we believe that with the support of the communities we serve, with our patients, families, and partners helping spread the word, this is our best chance of showcasing what La Maison des Collines has to offer and finding the right nurses to join our team and our community.”
