DetailsLa Maison des Collines (MDC) is a centre of excellence in palliative care, with a team of professionals offering support to patients and their families at every stage of the end-of-life process.
Our top priorities are the well-being and comfort of our patients, and the excellence of our services and care. Offering palliative care in both official languages, we welcome all palliative stage patients regardless of ethnic background, spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation, age or social-economic background. We are sensitive to their emotional needs and encourage our staff to be attentive, respectful and warm-hearted. We promote patients’ rights to make informed decisions and to clearly express their wishes for the care they receive and how it is administered. Volunteers are also at the heart of our mission, and their contribution to La Maison des Collines is not only remarkable but essential.
La Maison des Collines offers a wide range of free services in French and English, including:

COVID-19 – MEASURES APPLIED IN TIMES OF CRISIS
The Ministerial directive requires us to authorize two people at a time, up to a maximum of 4 visitors per 24-hour period, with a preference given only to immediate family identified by the patient. Authorized visitors are not allowed to circulate in the palliative care home other than the room where their loved one is. In addition, visitors must wear a mask. Visiting hours are from 8 am to 7:30 pm. The guidelines already in place to counter the spread of the virus will continue to apply. This means that each authorized visitor will be required to confirm that they have not travelled outside the country recently and are not exhibiting symptoms that could be related to COVID-19.
Our staff are extremely saddened by the situation that our patients and families are experiencing. Rest assured that our care providers will continue to deliver the usual level of thorough and attentive care and services that La Maison des Collines has always prided itself on providing.
We are doing everything possible to ensure that our patients and their families get through this difficult time as well as possible. We have purchased iPad tablets in order to provide contact between residents and their families, but we understand that nothing can replace the presence of a loved one at the bedside at the end of life. We want you to know that the temporary measures in place have only increased the desire of all our care teams to double their efforts to provide the best possible compassionate care for your loved one.
Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times.
